Heart of a King Pendant
From the Manuscripts of Cassiodorus, Expositio Psalmorum (“Commentary on the Psalms“) F.172V. Northumbria, which is kept in Durham Cathedral Library. Dated to around the mid 8th century, this design is from the margin of the page depicting King David, who stands on a double headed serpent. In his hands he holds a spear and a shield. The knot work heart pattern forms the corners of the margins that enclose the image.
