I created this design using a binding knot from the Book of Kells, Ireland, and herons from the Hunterston Annular Brooch from the 8th century CE. The original annular was found in the grounds of Lord Hunterston, Scotland.
It is optional to have colour in the eyes of the herons. Usually we would use blue or green.
