Killua Castle Necklace
This design is found in Killua Castle, Westmeath Ireland, dating back to the 8th-9th century. Killua Castle was the site of the first plantings of potatoes in the Old World. This knot was attached to a metal mount that once belonged to a shrine or wooden casket. The knot work design has echoes of the 6th century Book of Durrow, Ireland.
It is approximately 4cm in length.
